That didn’t take long! It’s only been three days since talent show fans went bonkers over Pia Toscano’s shocking elimination from American Idol — despite delivering a rousing performance of Tina Turner’s ’60s hit “River Deep, Mountain High” — but the model doppelganger from The Big Apple’s already inked a record deal.
Pia’s been snapped up and signed to A.I. mentor Jimmy Iovine’s Interscope Records, who has agreed to release her debut album, spywitnesses spilled to Us Weekly over the weekend.
“Pia is being signed to a deal with Interscope Records who are rushing her into the studio to record an album ASAP,” squeals a source familiar with the deal. “Starting [Thursday] night after the show, Interscope told her they wanted her and first thing [Friday] morning, Interscope brass started calling every top songwriter and producer in town to get an album together and rush release it.”
The informant added: “Papers are being finalized. It’s basically a done deal. She’s signing. They rushed everything but she’s so excited.”
